Century of Country, is a radio show that is going to take you on a journey of real life stories and the incredible musicians behind them. Country music has always been part of America’s culture and it remains that way today. At Century of Country, you will have a renewed appreciation of country music and its rich heritage.
The roots of country-western music and American agriculture are inseparable. Many farmers across America have probably been proud to say, “Thank God I’m a country boy,” while wearing baseball caps, John Deere green, and baling hay. As the agricultural community has changed over the years, so has the tune of a genre that tells its tale of its people. But the heart and the heritage remain the same.
For a genre that states the test of time, we wanted to create a brand mark that was reflective of that nod to history while looking to the future. Young or old, country music has and always will be a staple genre. We have hidden the initials COC into the brand mark to also act as the familiar shape of a guitar sound hole. The brand mark is also inclusive of the musical and historical talks that the radio show will consist of. The radio show will unify the music we have played for many generations with the history of the musicians behind it all.
The origins of country music can be found in recordings of Southern Appalachian fiddle players in the late 1910s. It wasn’t until the early ’20s, however, that country music became its own genre. The first commercial country record was made by Eck Robertson in 1922. Vernon Dalhart had the first national country hit in 1924 with “Wreck of the Old ’97.” Many historians look to 1927, the year Victor Records signed Jimmie Rodgers and The Carter Family, as the true moment country music was born.
